About us

EJR-Quartz is a science communication agency specialising in the space sector. Our team of digital content specialists works for clients across the European space industry, translating complex science and technology into stories that a broad audience can understand and enjoy. We are proud of our diverse team with a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

About the role

As IT Communications Expert, you’ll be supporting the CDIO in developing and implementing communication activities in line with the CDIO’s business needs, ESA’s communication policies and ESA’s communication plan. The role covers strategic communication support, leadership communication and internal communication linked to ESA’s digital, data, IT, cybersecurity, resilience and digital sovereignty priorities. Priorities are set by the CDIO.

What you’ll be doing

Your tasks will include:

  • Developing communication plans and roadmaps aligned with the CDIO’s priorities, ESA’s Digital Strategy and relevant organisational transformation objectives;
  • Preparing background notes, agendas and presentation decks for leadership engagements such as staff town halls, fireside chats and leadership workshops, and providing follow-up action summaries and key takeaways;
  • Writing, editing and publishing articles for the IT channel on ESA’s intranet, highlighting department achievements, innovation projects, success stories and ‘silent heroes’;
  • Developing staff-facing materials that explain the benefits, rationale and operational impact of digital transformation and IT service changes, and supporting communication on change management, cybersecurity, resilience and digital sovereignty;
  • Coordinating with the CDIO Office and ESA’s corporate communications team to align messaging and scheduling, and to ensure all-staff communications follow ESA brand standards and approval workflows;
  • Occasionally supporting external visibility, for example by drafting LinkedIn posts, event messaging and stakeholder engagement material;
  • Reporting monthly on delivered activities, including progress updates, impact observations and recommendations for improvement.

What we’re looking for

  • A degree in communication, journalism or a related field
  • At least three years’ professional writing and editing experience, preferably in internal communications at an international organisation
  • Experience in writing speeches, talking points, presentations and briefing material for senior leadership
  • Ability to translate complex digital, IT, data and cybersecurity topics into clear messages for a non-specialist audience
  • Native English written English, with meticulous attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation, and can edit texts written by non-native speakers to mother-tongue English level
  • Experience with change communication
  • Experience in working with corporate tone-of-voice guidelines, approval workflows and content management systems
  • Proactive approach, managing your projects well and able to work to deadlines

We also value

  • Experience in communicating about IT, cybersecurity or digital strategy
  • Familiarity with European space programmes
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Experience in event management (physical, online and hybrid)
  • Fluency in an additional European language

What we offer

  • A meaningful role at the heart of ESA’s digital transformation, working directly with senior leadership
