Social media

Social media isn’t just what we do – it’s who we are. From monitoring engagement to storytelling, we currently handle social media for all our clients, including ESA, DLR, COSPAR and EUMETSAT. Our expert EJR-Quartz editors have been the creative powerhouse behind ESA’s social media channels as far back as 2010. If you’re a fan of space, there’s a fair chance you’ve already seen some of our work without even knowing it. Here are just a few samples of our team’s social media handiwork:

ESA

In the build up to the Ariane 6 rocket’s launch on 9 July 2024, several of our EJR-Quartz team members were responsible for conceiving and executing strategic campaigns on social media. The whole Ariane 6 team, which included two of our staff members, won a prize at the 2024 ESA Team Achievement Awards.

Launched in April 2023, the JUICE mission aims to explore Jupiter and its three largest ocean-bearing moons. Since then, our EJR-Quartz team members have been diligently delivering front-line coverage of this endeavour alongside team members from other companies.

On 7 October 2024, the HERA mission embarked on its journey to study the Didymos binary asteroid, launching aboard a Falcon 9 rocket. Down on the ground, our team was hard at work providing the mission’s social media coverage, inspiring audiences worldwide. This was made possible thanks to our trusted partners at Science Office, whose graphics brought the message to life.

Long before the current buzz, we were the ones who sparked ESA’s social media journey. Remember this Twitter conversation between ESA’s Rosetta spacecraft and its comet lander Philae in November 2014?

Our editors played a leading role in the conception and execution of the #cometlanding social media campaign, including management of both the @ESA_Rosetta and @Philae2014 accounts.

DLR

We are responsible for managing corporate English-language social media channels for German Aerospace Center (DLR) – which often includes live event coverage. The HALO-South mission employs German research aircraft HALO research aircraft to investigate the relationship between aerosols, cloud formations and radiation over the Southern Ocean near New Zealand. On behalf of DLR, our team has been documenting and sharing the mission’s progress through posts, reels, and stories – primarily via DLR’s English-language Instagram account. This outreach initiative also gave us an opportunity for external collaborations, most notably with the German Embassy in New Zealand.

COSPAR

We’re proud to be offering continuous coverage of COSPAR’s social media, especially throughout their flagship annual events. During these, our staff is on the ground delivering real-time updates and insights straight from the floor. One such instance was during the 2024 COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Busan, South Korea – an unforgettable, action-packed week for social media editors.

EUMETSAT

When it comes to EUMETSAT, 2025 kept our team on their toes with two high-profile launches. In July for example, we remotely covered the MTG-S1 & Sentinel-4 mission launch for EUMETSAT’s social media, providing support for platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Facebook. Just weeks later, we were present at ESTEC, providing onsite coverage for the launch of EUMETSAT’s MetOp-SGA1 satellite from Kourou on 12 August – which we also happened to cover for ESA.
